FEBRUARY 3 marks the 50th Anniversary of “the Day the Music Died”, as Don McLean called the death of Buddy Holly in the song ‘American Pie’. To commemorate this special occasion, the smash-hit West End musical Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story will be rocking into Birmingham Hippodrome.
A SOFTWARE developer from the city is all set to step into the limelight as the lead role in a play hosted by the city’s Crescent Theatre. Robert Mrozek from Edgbaston will don a costume and become Elwood P. Dowd, the lead character in James Stewart’s popular 1950s play ‘Harvey.’
THE Mediaeval Baebes will perform a one off concert at Birmingham Cathedral on December 6 as part of a nine date nationwide UK tour. The tour follows two months performing throughout Europe and the US for the Baebes, including appearances at The Mystic Fair in The Netherlands and The Maryland Renaissance Festival in the US.
YUMMY – the Cake International Show is returning to the NEC on Saturday and Sunday, November 15 & 16. The show is the only place where you can find the latest range of cake decorating products and accessories, as well as a feast of exciting college displays and workshops.
THE FIRST ever Doctor Who, Peter Purves will be landing at the NEC on November 22 where he will stay until November 23. The Time Lord will be arriving in Birmingham as part of this year’s Memorabilia Show which will bring with it a host of stars, displays and characters from popular television programmes past and present.
THE Top Gear lads are pulling up into the NEC as part of MPH - The Prestige and Performance Motor Show, from November 13-16. Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow will host Top Gear Live, a sub-event promising all the excitement and hilarity of the hit television show with all the glamour of over 200 of the fastest and coolest cars on the planet – all under one roof!
