The original Inn dates back to the turn of the 16th century and has been the choice of generations as a venue to enjoy fine food, wines and ales. The Bowling Green, after which the Inn is named, is the oldest in the British Isles. The existing records of the Club go back only to 1775, but it is quite clear that the Club was in existence for a very long time before that date.
