‘SOAP’ and comedy stars came together for a new film being made in Birmingham to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Les Dennis, Sally Lindsay (who played Rovers’ Return landlady Shelley) and John Alderton (Please Sir!) will feature in the film, Waiting In Rhyme, as a follow-up to Expresso, made last year by Rednal producer Martin Nigel Davey and Halesowen-based director Kevin Powis.

Sally plays a receptionist in the doctor’s waiting room where Les is acting the part of a man waiting to find out whether he has cancer. Stephen Dourass, area fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: “I met with the producers and Les Dennis at the Hotel du Vin some weeks ago – he is very supportive of Macmillan.”
