A BABY T-Rex roamed Birmingham, searching for The NIA for this summer's spectacular arena shows. The baby T-Rex will be at The Mailbox ahead of the NIA's Walking With Dinosaurs exhibition, getting local people excited about the forthcoming event.
Pupils from Nelson Primary School were amongst those who got up close to the baby T-Rex as it stomped around the Second City. Dinosaurs will once again roam the earth in a spectacular new theatrical arena show, which comes to The NIA this summer. Walking with Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular, based on the award-winning BBC Television series will see real size dinosaurs come to life in what promises to be one of the most exciting and groundbreaking shows ever seen in the UK.

The live show brings together special effects, escapism, excitement and information of the BBC TV series, but with 15 roaring, snarling “live” dinosaurs, mesmerising the audience! The show takes the audience through the evolution of these giant beasts from their first existence, over millions of years, through to their extinction. They are accompanied on their journey by a narrator with exciting facts and information.
Ten species are represented from the entire 200 million year reign of the dinosaurs. The show includes the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the terror of the ancient terrain, as well as the Plateosaurus and Liliensternus from the Triassic period, the Stegosaurus and Allosaurus from the Jurassic period and Torosaurus and Utahraptor from the awesome Cretaceous period. The largest of them, the Brachiosaurus, is 36 feet tall, and 56 feet from nose to tail. It took a team of 50 including engineers, fabricators, skin makers, artists and painters, and animatronics experts a year to build the original production in a workshop big enough to park a 747!
Walking with Dinosaurs will be at The NIA from 12th to 16th August. Tickets for two extra performances have just gone on sale - 3pm on Friday 14 August and 7pm on Sunday 16 August.
