BIRMINGHAM is doing its bit for the survivors of the humanitarian disaster in Haiti by holding a fundraising event at the Yarbird.
'Breaks For The Quake' - taking place tomorrow (January 20,) will see artists from the UK music scene perform for free with all monies form the event being donated to Partners In Health, a charity with 20 years experience of working with grass roots communities in Haiti.
The hope of the project in its totality is for a generation to unite around Haiti; developing a greater understanding of the political antecedents which have made the current crisis so much worse.
The local event, which was organised in just three days, features two-time World DMC Champion DJ Switch on the line-up, as well as a stellar list of DJs and MCs from across the city.
An open turntables / open mic policy will also be in place later in the evening to encourage performers of all persuasions to take to the stage.
Birmingham Breaks for the Quake has gained support from a variety of well known city promoters, including Jibbering, Secret Wars, This is Tomorrow, Drop Beats Not Bombs, Heducation and Scratch Club.
To see the show, just turn up on the night and make a donation.
