FUTURE Leaders, an organisation that recruits, trains and supports the next generation of headteachers for challenging urban schools is now turning its head to the Second City as they look to recruit 20 potential headteachers through a unique fast-track initiative. The programme currently operates in urban schools within London and The North West and is in the process of recruiting participants and potential schools in the West Midlands for September 2009. Each summer, a new cohort of highly motivated participants will undergo a programme of intensive in-school and offsite experiences, with outstanding mentoring, coaching and training, tailored specifically to prepare them to become a senior leader within 12 months and a headteacher after four years.
Future Leaders has been developed in consultation with experts from across the education sector to identify and develop the skills and vision of leaders to run the most challenging of urban schools and make a lasting difference to the lives of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. The initiative is supported by the National College for School Leadership (NCSL), the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and Absolute Return for Kids, (ARK). For more information click here
